Today is my birthday, unfortunately, I still have to work today.
Yesterday I was off, and we went to Mongolian BBQ in Ann Arbor for my free birthday stir fry!!! It was delicious!
I also did some trade in on diapers at The Little Seedling, a natural parenting store in Ann Arbor off of Zeeb Rd. I traded in 24 prefold infant diapers and 4 covers for $35 store credit.
We don't really use the prefolds much, so why hang on to them? That and Grayson is too chubby for that size now anyways! LOL
I really love the one size pocket diapers. My go to diaper is the Fuzzibunz one size. It has adjustable leg and waist elastics, and a series of snaps along the front to customize the size as your baby grows. Basically this diaper lasts from infancy to potty training. They run about $19 a piece brand new, and to have a good "stash", you'll need at least 24 (10-12 per day, washing everyday the ones from the day before) but 36 allows washing every other day, and it's less wear on the diapers so they last longer. So, for about $700 (including some extra inserts for stuffing thicker for overnights) I have all the diapers I will need. Compare that to the cost of disposables from birth to potty training and it's a huge savings!

My Inaugural Post
Welcome, to whomever happens upon this blog. I'm pretty new to blogging, but I'm giving it a shot.
My hope is to be able to provide information/insights into parenting, Michigan, nature, random occurrences/epiphanies in my personal life, etc.
I will be honest in my thoughts, and opinions. I welcome feedback, comments, and opinions also, but I ask that they be kept respectful, and I will of course do the same.
Ok, now that I have that out of the way.... Where to begin?
I'm married to a wonderful man, named Adam. We have 2 children: Gretchen (3) and Grayson (8 months).
My brother calls me a "hippie", because we cloth diaper our youngest, I'm a big fan of baby wearing, breastfeeding, and natural childbirth, and I'm concerned about what my family ingests and puts on our bodies. I personally don't think I qualify as a "hippie", because of many reasons. A few: I personally didn't make it through either of my children's births un-medicated, we still use commercial non-organic household and hygienic items, we don't eat strictly organic, and I have some very conservative viewpoints on certain topics.
Slowly, I am working towards becoming more "crunchy", LOL. We have a couple acres, and currently only a small garden, we have been talking about building a coop and raising our own chickens. We have some friends that are already doing this, and I am fascinated by the ideas!!
I'm a huge fan of books, music, movies, and the occasional video game. I'd like to get into photography as a hobby. I have big ideas but am easily sidetracked :).
That's enough for tonight. I'll try to post articles, or stories regularly!
